The Way 03:40
Hooray for all the diplomatic Fools believers in the human race Their name shall so endure Don’t you know that I maim boy Don’t you know that I maim Caressing in philosophy The world we struggle in it seems To contradict in all it sees Don’t you know your own name boy Don’t you know your own name Every time we close our eyes The fear creeps into open skies We see it flashing past our eyes Don’t you know who to blame boy Don’t you know who to blame We’ve all been told what is our fate There’s communists in every state Yet all we do is hesitate Don’t you know that you’re lame boy Don’t you know that you’re lame Now that we have come to this Demanding for our golden kiss Yet don’t know what it is you miss Don’t you know it’s the same boy Don’t you know it’s the same Claiming that you’re turning blue From lack of love not shining through The clouds that linger over you Don’t you know when it rains boy Don’t you know when it rains The Way is cast and in we crawl By faith we enter it at all The future’s bright let’s have a ball Don’t you know it’s the Way boy Don’t you know it’s the Way

Puddles grow from drops of rain Chimes of anger circle pain Seasons come and seasons go What's in your hand still remains Bubbles on a windy day Pass as images from pink to grey All our pearls of history Reflects the dreams within the day 'Time's long past to play this hand' Says the verse with a shifting name But I didn't know then what I don't know now And there's still no one else to blame I have slept one thousand nights And felt the shadow in the breeze That caused a ripple in the surf Which danced magically with ease Sweetness is as sweetness be Such temporary insanity A myth or vision; silky air Though all known instead of me 'Time's long past to play this hand' Says the verse with a shifting name But I didn't know then what I don't know now And there's still no one else to blame Puddles grow from drops of rain

You cannot face too many feelings that you bear From all sides your reaching hands and sprawling hair And the sad sigh away through the pain of the day Exploding into emptiness and decay You cannot face too many feelings that are trim From all sides in the lake you learn to swim Now the feeding starts here; the dreams of the lair The situation calls for all to stand clear You cannot face too many feelings unaware From all sides rows of tailored silvered nails This forgotten sound I sit cross-legged on the ground Sense the features of the pattern I found Clouds wearing oak; flowing tied to dull despair From all sides a small child cries and melts away The hour draws near the youthful self is not here Forced the mind-coloured sound in my ear You cannot face too many feelings that you bear

Captain of the east side Ride free until sunrise Come a day when you’ll subside You know I’ve seen the mocking of the holy man Knock him down Teach to Earth where you’ve been today Courts of justice can’t put you away Treason on the high tide Ocean’s back you began to dry Feet wet and a sore side The thorns around your head gave a reason For your alibi Teach to me where you’ve been today All that hatred can’t put you away Spend your life within all time Just keep in touch with the other side I’ve been told that you’re forced to hide People, don’t you see the holy man’s committed suicide Teach to Earth where you’ve been today Our hatred has put you away
5.
I fear and hope – I burn and freeze likewise I fly above the wind yet cannot rise There’s nothing I have that the world can take from I’m free yet locked inside this prison The night has a thousand eyes Yet the light of the whole world shines Like a dying sun I wish to perish yet I ask for health I love another yet I hate myself I feed in sorrow; I laugh at my pains Without eyes I see without tongue I claim The mind has a thousand eyes Yet the light of the whole life shines I cannot be held yet I escape no wise It lets me not live or face my demise And my delight is the cause of my grief I climb yet I fall while I cling to a leaf The night has a thousand eyes Yet the light of the whole world shines Like a dying sun
6.
Take another look at where you might be growing up today Be thankful for what you have a pray For the people of the land – they will have to stay And see the power – must then face them Eliminate them – re-educate them – re-ordinate them Find the fine line between our love and His Children spying, dying, trying at our fingertips And wherever you would look it is easily missed Come feel what power – must then face them Procrastinate them – re-institute them – re-vitalize them Have another have a shot – fill your propaganda lot You’ve started something you’re able not to finish And succumb to thought God is the power – must then face Him Not erase Him – or re-tomb Him – or re-design Him Take another look around – see how big we’ve grown You cannot lie by telling me you would not cast the stone Here in heaven we all need sensations overblown And know its power – must then trace them Coagulate them – re-intricate them – incriminate them

The Rising 06:14
I’m rising over hills and valleys near the stream Join the rising and find for yourself the will is real Stop that depression – belief is what is need to be healed Relieve aggression – hold your praise on high for to be seen A friend; a nobody; a man like you and me Teaching his holy word through eternity A friend; a nobody; a man like you and me I’m rising – I have been in the valley all this time Join the rising – wake up see the world confused and lost to crime In the horizon there is a plan for the ones who share his name Curtain’s rising and judgment day will fall on us like rain A friend; a nobody; a man like you and me Teaching his holy word through eternity A friend; a nobody; a man like you and me

Wake me up early every Monday morning Walk up to the beach and with hardly a warning I’m forced to find work in the factory To try to make a living for my family Banana boats come; dead baby arrive So I wander ‘round the docks in search of occupation I’m sure I’ll some work with my dedication I’m stupid – I have never learned from history I’ll have to find another way to be free because Banana boats come; dead baby arrive I walk up to me hut – there’s no food on the table My woman says to me ‘John, see if you’re able… To try to get a job at the armory… Today’s nuclear advancements offers opportunities, since…’ Banana boats come; dead baby arrive Wake me up early every Monday morning Walk up to the beach – now I’ll give you a warning What you’re about to see is part of a design The rest is still the future waiting for the time when Banana boats come; dead baby arrive

Who Is King 04:17
There’s been a many soldiers that have been to war All hoping they would be free When not too many one of them would be told God not man is king Some call it glory; some call it queer Others call it a way of life But few see it only as a means by which to be Something greater than death Come and be – we’re the only one to take Thought they’ve closed the door A long time ago when I used to write in rhymes I can’t do that anymore We all fall upon the time that we are in There’s no want in coming down And if you live among the friends you have known to be Don’t count your blessings out too loud As you read further you find I start to fade From the theme I’m supposed to weave Could be right you know I’ve never been misled To guess it keeps me where I breathe There’s been a many people that have had a many wars All hoping they could be free When far too many one of them would be told Man not God is king

The Luthier 02:33
The player wears the helmet The Luthier plays the tune Entice themselves with fancy lives Dancing on the moon Now here I sit abundant My face there is no sign Still the Luthier strums his target Aiming for my weary mind He hits is deep – he strikes it low I cannot make it pass The Luthier has always been mellow After smoking all my grass In the family – in the family’ He’s told me all along In the family – in the family Is where you’re going to find love

about

Originally recorded in 2018

The search for the way ought not be preceded by obtaining the answer. It should be a slow and studious process.
