about
Loosely based on a poem by Hal "Phoenix" Muskat. Originally this song was recorded in 2004.
Phoenix is a Vietnam War vet and his poem is about the need for everyone to be connected and have each other's backs. Puddles do, in fact, grow from drops of rain.
lyrics
Puddles grow from drops of rain
Chimes of anger circle pain
Seasons come and seasons go
What's in your hand still remains
Bubbles on a windy day
Pass as images from pink to grey
All our pearls of history
Reflects the dreams within the day
'Time's long past to play this hand'
Says the verse with a shifting name
But I didn't know then what I don't know now
And there's still no one else to blame
I have slept one thousand nights
And felt the shadow in the breeze
That caused a ripple in the surf
Which danced magically with ease
Sweetness is as sweetness be
Such temporary insanity
A myth or vision; silky air
Though all known instead of me
'Time's long past to play this hand'
Says the verse with a shifting name
But I didn't know then what I don't know now
And there's still no one else to blame
Puddles grow from drops of rain
