Originally this song was part of a project called 'In The Mainline' recorded by Don White in 1979.
I chose to re-record this song and keep it true to the original version because it has always been a favourite of both myself and others who knew it back then.
It speaks to the relationship I have had with what I perceive as the oddness of the world and my difficult time fitting in to it. But I would never have it any other way. I love the madness.
lyrics
I love the madness
Its twisting its turning
Its odds all against me
Though we must be safe in our human stew
Still I choose to be left alone with you
When the sky meets the river
The ocean’s not too far
You play your hand
Strike in your land
Tell me who’s sitting on the star
If you’ve answered me the teacher was
You’re wrong only in line
The teacher he’s still there
Still hoping he has time
I love the madness
Its twisting its turning
Its odds all against me
Though we must be safe in our human stew
Still I choose to be left alone with you
Each of us are changing in ways too little known
With stammer indecision and future over-blown
We walk inside the mainline
And whisper to the trees …hello
I love the madness
Its twisting its turning
Its odds all against me
Though we must be safe in our human stew
Still I choose to be left alone with you
