The Mailbox
04:39
|
|||
The people have seen a wish down the river
Forever they’ve been alone together
And besides the weather
What makes the mailbox rattle at night
I’ve seen a lot of anger – I’ve seen a lot of pain
I’ve spent years inside it and the people just the same
God only helps me know
What makes the mailbox rattle at night
Allow me to feel that wish down the river
Tell them to wait until I can be with her
For besides the weather
What makes the mailbox rattle at night
The morning seems to be the same
It hasn’t changed since yesterday
The rain still beats down hard against my door
If I awake I’ll be afraid
Now’s not the time
My hears me say
I’ve already felt the rain
I need no more
I hold the covers to my chin
Knock .. knock .. knock .. knock
I let them in
The rain still beats down harder on my floor
The people have seen a wish down the river
Forever they’ve been alone together
And besides the weather
What makes the mailbox rattle at night

I Love The Madness
02:23
|
|||
I love the madness
Its twisting its turning
Its odds all against me
Though we must be safe in our human stew
Still I choose to be left alone with you
When the sky meets the river
The ocean’s not too far
You play your hand
Strike in your land
Tell me who’s sitting on the star
If you’ve answered me the teacher was
You’re wrong only in line
The teacher he’s still there
Still hoping he has time
I love the madness
Its twisting its turning
Its odds all against me
Though we must be safe in our human stew
Still I choose to be left alone with you
Each of us are changing in ways too little known
With stammer indecision and future over-blown
We walk inside the mainline
And whisper to the trees …hello
I love the madness
Its twisting its turning
Its odds all against me
Though we must be safe in our human stew
Still I choose to be left alone with you

For The Moment
03:16
|
|||
For the moment everything is fine
As you read the poems that no longer rhyme
Comprehending less but never left behind
In the state where things crash to the floor
That is where you will not see me score
We have been there and there is no need for more
Elevation talks – that’s when I want you
For the moment everything is cool
I would not want to be known as the fool
Living, giving, breathing – breaking every rule
All the talking without action is ignored
Take as much from love as you can afford
In the end you’ll find your heart behind a door
Elevation talks – that’s when I want you
For the moment everything is right
An alarm has sounded but there is no need to fight
Comprehending more as we hold on tight
In a state where everything becomes aglow
Where what is learned is all that is and that I know
Then next the two of us connecting to the flow
Elevation talks – that’s when I want you

Much Too Long
07:25
|
|||
When it comes that you’re laughing no more
Go check the score that you came with
When it comes – when yesterday’s near
But tomorrow is here to contend with
Then you swiftly pass the rivers
As you cease discerning secrets
That is stashed behind the billboards of our land
After all these mile-long hours
You just can’t believe it’s coming
You are the actor in the play – a hero all the way
With nothing more to say than it’s OK
When it comes that you lie on the floor
Hungry for more than you came with
So it comes that time has to pass
You’re out on your ass that you’re born with
Life has a reason but it doesn’t know the meaning
Of the words written on the bathroom wall
Prepare your voices and join in the chorus
That is on it’s way back home; a fool too late to roam
The stage is set; the lights go out on you
1:07 … and the girls become women
Sweeping up floors for their brothers and sisters
Life envelopes the mind and drowns it in their fears
We fail…we cry…we live
1:09 … and the boys become men
Scanning the playground they fight to win friends
They hear the whistle blow so it’s time for them to go
But who will stop the show
Not I…I cry…I live
Not soon enough we stop
1:11 … and the boys become women
Sweeping up dirt from their broken heaven
Not me he cries alone – who can understand

Lonely Time
05:34
|
|||
In my lonely time I've come to understand
That there will always be this dream
I can still recall every single hour
When I heard the voices scream
No matter what I do everything is wrong
Except when I am here
Competition is indelicate I know
It only reasons to breed fear
What's required is a thicker skin I hear
Then and only then you're strong
But peeling back the layers of the missing years
In a vision that goes on
What's the payoff? What's the message that we're told?
What's the meaning of the sign?
Everyone of us needs passion to behold
In our lonely time
In my lonely time I delegate the scene
Move the pieces 'round the board
Holding back the thoughts which carry me away
Realization strikes the chord
I take roads that are so narrow and so long
And try to avoid the crooked trail
As I grow older my preferences remain
My soul and body though grow frail

Little Did We Know
02:49
|
|||
Little did we know all that was happening
Little did we think about where the path would lead
Little did we see with our blinders on
We could not understand the way to be
Little did we feel; our bodies ached with pain
Little did we realize that what we dreamt we made
Little did we hear that inner voice that sees
Instead we walked into a maze unclear
Little did we think about anything
Little did we understand the rule of give and take
Little did we know all that was happening
Little does it matter now for little did we know

Now I Know
03:28
|
|||
Childhood memories escape me now
Besides which in those days we were carefree anyhow
But I remember my first time on that star
Now I know it really pays to remain who you truly are
I pulled the curtain down when the show was done
It was quite finished but for me it had just begun
I found there was no need for anyone to grieve
Now I know it really pays to live as you believe
I’ve slept in the cold; all wet on the ground
Thought I lost everything but now it is found
My fears are far away and in it all so deep
Now I know it really pays to sow before you reap

Wake Up Soul
02:56
|
|||
Wake up soul – wake up soul
Wake up soul from your sleep and see
Wake up soul – wake up soul
Wake up soul from your sleep and know
That you are under no suspicion
And it will take a bit of time
The payoff comes back ten times thicker
So lay down your arms
There’s nothing to defend
That there is nothing but a story
One that is under your control
Still the need you have for glory
Make an offering
I’ll meet you at the end
That there are very few conditions
Even though sometimes it is hard to understand
Blending consciousness with vision
Gracefully then balance
All that has to mend
Wake up soul – wake up soul
Wake up soul from your sleep and see
Wake up soul – wake up soul
Wake up soul from your sleep and know

Is Anybody Listening
10:38
|
|||
Writing these words I wonder what is the point of even trying
Is anybody listening?
The cost was so much more but I can see it now there was
Nobody listening
Trading love for anger, surrounded by only strangers
I wanted to have somebody listening
When I recall the faces I can’t remember places I was
‘Cause I wasn’t listening
In the beginning there was only tomorrows…my my
And in the end there may be only sorrows…my my
Come and unite with me
We can take on the world and have
Everybody listening
Though you think you know the story it is only past glory when
You were listening
Chameleon sunrise dawning and in life you are clawing at someone
So they would be listening
Forgetting that you also hear
Not seeing that it’s nothing more than mere pridefulness
That you are not listening
In the beginning there was only tomorrows…my my
And in the end there may be only sorrows…my my
Sitting cross-legged on the floor with no reason to think more
If nobody is listening
At the dawn of the day my strength is there to only cause
Other people listening
When you can only take so much. The writing is on the backs
Of everybody listening
So from here the journey starts and continues on its path
To get myself listening
