I recorded the background factory sounds in the early 1980s in the Toronto area using a Nagra reel to reel machine several years before I founded Varoshi Fame in 1986. Having kept all the sound effects I have recorded over the years I decided to dig these particular ones up and use them as initial tracks onto which I added typical Varoshi Fame arrangements.
The title 'Destroy Factories' come from Varoshi Fame propaganda depicting a somewhat Ludite point of view of progress. While I do not identify with Ludite philosophy I do understand its frustration with the way civilization has been heading. 'Destroy Factories' is rich with anarchist industrial sense. It is an instrumental album just slightly over 30 minutes long. It is meant to make the listener feel uneasy about what we have done to ourselves.
